Ballarat Cup preview

The Ballarat Cup is the premier country cup in Australian harness racing.
Group 1 glory, $150,000 and a bunch of horses to match the lofty status of the 2710m event.
We've brought together the New Zealand, Inter Dominion, Victoria Cup, Shepparton Cup and Cranbourne Cup winners plus numerous others who have been placed in those same races and many more.
Kiwi raiders Copy That and Old Town Road arrive, adding great interest to this contest and the entire Summer of Glory carnival.
Rock N Roll Doo will be aiming to overcome his Bendigo Cup troubles whilst Major Meister might just be the newest boom horse on the scene.
The Ballarat club does things better than most and those attending will have an incredible night of racing and entertainment. Beautiful weather is also predicted.
Those stuck at home, Trots Vision is your place to go for wall-to-wall action.
Here is how I see the pacing cup playing out and a few sneaky picks for the big night...
TORRID SAINT will cross them all, then look to hand over to the quickest and most appropriate rival. Whether that's COPY THAT or CRANBOURNE or even ROCK N ROLL DOO is anyone's guess.
My prediction is COPY THAT or CRANBOURNE getting to the top and relieving Torrid Saint of that position.
From the back row, MAJOR MEISTER will be looking for a trail into the race over the last 1000m whilst MAJESTIC CRUISER and OLD TOWN ROAD will be looking for gaps.
My selections:
1 COPY THAT
2 ROCK N ROLL DOO
3 OLD TOWN ROAD
4 MAJOR MEISTER
OTHER PLAYS
Race Two, Number Nine: SANDAY - Should follow through nicely and get into a handy enough position.
Race Eight, Number Two: CRIME WRITER - held up forever in Hamilton Cup, should get nice trip here either behind leader or maybe 1-1.
Race Nine, Number Five: MAJOR DELICO - gate speed, can cross and run around 1:54 and that will go close to winning.
