Breeders Crown preview

In racing, we rightfully get ourselves into a muck lather about having two or three Group 1 races on any one card.

Well, this weekend's Breeders Crown Finals at Tabcorp Park Melton gives us a whole lot more than that - in fact, we get eight Group 1 races across the pacers and trotters.

Helping me preview this week's Harnessed is Victorian race caller Dan Mielicki. No one knows our sport like Dan and his insights into this week were incredible. Make sure you catch season 2, episode 2 of Harnessed either via Trots Vision or as a podcast via The Field.

Here is a snapshot of the major pacing races;

2YO FILLIES:

MAJOR DELIGHT looks something else. She's already a Group 1 winner in 1:50.3... from the breeze. TEMPTING TIGRESS looks the clearcut No. 2 seed but there are some talented babies, like SOHO SERAPHINE, JEWEL MEOLDY and LUDACROUS. Any of those fillies can fill a hole.

2YO COLTS / GELDINGS THE LOST STORM ran a mind-blowing race in the semi, but Dan Mielicki discussed whether he can repeat the dose one week after such a gut-busting run. IF he's vulnerable, SCHOOL CAPTAIN looks the one, whilst CAPTAINS KNOCK, TECHYS WATCHING and DOUG'S PLATTER at a monster price can feature.

This is the most likely blowout race of the evening.

3YO FILLIES ENCIPHER has this race at her mercy thanks to a perfect barrier draw. AMORE VITA draws for the perfect trail but her performances have lacked, even after switching to the Emma Stewart camp.

SOHO HISTORIA must be some hope, despite gate 11 and I'm not discounting PETILLANTE despite the tricky alley.

3YO COLTS / GELDINGS

CAPTAIN RAVISHING gets his Group 1 chance. Leap To Fame handled him in the Victoria Derby Final but he draws to lead, speed and win here. KHAFAJI is developing into a real proper horse whilst RIPP is as talented as any. Kiwi raider MAJOR PERRY is a good colt but suffers from a poor alley.

The Captain gets his chance and you'd expect him to score handsomely.

4YO MARES

Ladies In Red should get the front from stable mate TOUGH TILLY and from there she should be goodnight Irene. DOUG'S BABE might be the most likely third-place getter.

4YO ENTIRES / GELDINGS ACT NOW is a demon when leading and he should get that opportunity on Saturday. Stable mate BEYOND DELIGHT looks his main danger but in a small field where they may run against the pegs you'll wanna be up front and running.
